Holdwise Privacy Policy

JC Mobile App Studio LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) makes Holdwise. We respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what data Holdwise collects, what it does with that data, and what choices you have.

Short version

Holdwise stores your portfolio data on your device. We do not run servers that collect your information. We do not sell or share your data. The only data that ever leaves your device is a ticker symbol you type, which we send to Tiingo to look up dividend history, and your purchase receipts, which Apple processes for In-App Purchases.

What Holdwise stores on your device

When you use Holdwise, the following data is stored locally on your iPhone (and, with iCloud sync enabled, in your private iCloud account):

• Account names and types you create (e.g., “Brokerage”, “Roth IRA”)
• Position details: ticker, shares, cost basis, annual dividend, frequency, notes
• Dividend history events fetched from Tiingo and any payments you record
• Cash transaction notes you choose to enter
• Daily portfolio snapshots used for trend charts
• Your settings: theme, notification preferences, privacy toggles

Holdwise has no account system. There is no email, password, or username associated with your data.

What data leaves your device

Tiingo (third-party financial data provider)

When you tap into a position to refresh dividend history, or when you type a ticker in the Add Position screen, Holdwise sends a request to Tiingo’s servers (api.tiingo.com) containing:

• The ticker symbol
• A date range (typically the past five years)
• Your Tiingo API key (which you provide)

Tiingo’s privacy policy applies to their handling of that request: https://www.tiingo.com/about/privacy. Holdwise does not send any other personal information to Tiingo.

Apple (for In-App Purchases)

When you upgrade to Holdwise Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple’s StoreKit. We never see your payment details, only a signed receipt from Apple confirming whether your Apple ID owns the entitlement. Apple’s privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Your iCloud account (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your portfolio data is stored in your private iCloud database. This data is encrypted and accessible only to you. We never see it. Apple’s iCloud privacy policy applies.

What we don’t do

• We do not run analytics or telemetry servers. There is no Mixpanel, Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Sentry, or similar service in Holdwise.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with marketers, data brokers, or anyone else.
• We do not use third-party tracking SDKs.
• We do not collect any device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data.

Your Tiingo API key

Your Tiingo API key is stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain on your device. We never transmit it anywhere except directly to Tiingo’s API. You can delete it at any time in Settings > Tiingo API Key > Delete.

Notifications

If you enable ex-dividend reminders, Holdwise schedules local notifications using Apple’s UserNotifications framework. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. They do not go through any push-notification server. They contain only ticker symbols, dates, and your projected income.

Data retention and deletion

All Holdwise data lives on your device. To delete it: uninstall the app, or use Settings > Reset Holdwise (coming soon) to wipe local data without uninstalling. If you used iCloud sync, removing iCloud data follows Apple’s standard process via Settings.app on iOS.

Children’s privacy

Holdwise is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new policy in the app and on our website.
